Want the perfect breakfast, snack, or dessert? Dragon Fruit Smoothie Bowls got it covered. It is no surprise that The Pitaya Bowls have gained popularity in juice shops. The fruit is full of antioxidants, is low calorie and is packed with nutrients, and, not to forget, is very delicious. Pitaya, in other words, dragon fruit, is beneficial for your health. Pitaya smoothie bowl is a perfect breakfast option for those who follow paleo or vegan diet.

HOW TO MAKE A PITAYA BOWL

Dragon fruit, also known as pitaya, is a beautiful and vibrant fruit full of fiber and nutrients that will boost your immunity, prevent cancer, and slow aging.

Inside the vibrant fruit, the flesh inside is white or rich magenta color. In tropical Malaysia, there are local crops where you can buy dragon fruits relatively cheaply. You can get a huge, organic pitaya for a small price.

It is more challenging to come across dragon fruit in different places around the world. You can usually get a taste of them in popular juice bars, where the price may vary.

If you are having difficulties finding a pitaya in your local market, try going to an Asian or Latin import store. There you will be able to find it more easily. You can also purchase frozen pitaya packs at some stores.

Try out this pitaya smoothie bowl:

  1. Chop a dragon fruit and a mango into dice-sized cubes, then some bananas, and freeze them until they are solid. We usually freeze them overnight, but you can have them frozen faster if you have a deep freeze.

  2. Put the frozen fruit into a food processor bowl and add a splash of some coconut or almond milk (if you prefer coconut milk, it will taste great then too). Process the fruit until it’s broken up, and then continue doing so. The fruit appears to “fluff” and looks like a soft-serve consistency.

  3. Fill the bowls with your self-made dragon fruit smoothie and top it off with some fresh fruit, coconut, nuts, or nut butter and enjoy!

RED DRAGON FRUIT SMOOTHIE BOWL RECIPE

The fun part of this recipe is the vibrant color that the pitaya has! We prefer red dragon fruits over the white-fleshed ones for this reason. The white dragon fruit looks excellent as a topping on this bowl. The pink bowl looks beautiful, and it won’t turn your smoothie bowl hot pink!!

If you enjoy sweets, this one is for you. We usually like throwing in many veggies in our smoothies, but this one is an exception! We keep it sweet by mixing in frozen bananas, mangoes, and red dragon fruit with a splash of coconut milk.

Only 4 natural, sugar-free ingredients make up this delicious smoothie bowl.

These bowls can accompany you as a healthy breakfast, great dessert, and delicious snack throughout the day.

ADD TOPPINGS YOUR DRAGON FRUIT SMOOTHIE BOWL

The texture of the smoothie bowl is fantastic. You can enjoy a bowl of it just like you would enjoy a bowl of ice cream. However, the toppings are where all the fun hides.

We think toppings are a great way to add flavor and texture! Try adding:

  • Dark chocolate chips

  • Fresh fruit (bits of white dragon fruit, kiwi, berries, or chopped bananas)

  • Almond butter

  • Toasted coconut granola

  • Coconut flakes (unsweetened)

  • Different types of nuts like almonds, walnuts

  • Other seeds like hemp or pumpkin seeds.
